Mobile Internet Traffic Surpasses Desktop Usage For The First Time In History

Most of you reading this article right now are doing so by using your smartphone. It isn’t surprising because according to a recent study, mobile phone ownership has gone up from less than 1% in 1985 to 91% among adults worldwide.

Initially, all a mobile phone could do was call up a person and send short text messages.

We have come a long way in mobile technology since then. We now have music players, cameras, radios and several such features built-in.

With the advent of mobile Internet services, the sales and usage of mobile phones has increased.

In the year 2013, mobile Internet traffic only accounted for less than 30% of the total Internet traffic with most of the traffic originating from desktop computers .

This year however mobile Internet traffic statistics indicate that 51.3% traffic is due to mobile devices with 4.76% coming from tablets. It’s the first time in history that mobile devices have overtaken the traditional desktop computers and laptops in terms of Internet traffic .

Why Xiaomi Went With Snapdragon 625 Over 650 In The New Redmi Note 4 ?

Hey Folks,Why Xiaomi Went With Snapdragon 625 Over 650 In The New Redmi Note 4 ?
Many of you tech enthusiast people scratching their heads and thinking why xiaomi went with Snapdragon 625 over 650 in the newly announced Redmi Note 4. The Previous Redmi Note 3 was powered with Snapdragon 650- the phone we loved. Redmi Note 3 was a Hit phone with 3.5 Million shipped in 2016. The Folks at Mi india worked really hard and by the feedback they went with this processor. Further we will discuss the Pros and Cons of 625.

The predecessor Redmi Note 3 packed in a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 SoC — a processor we ended up absolutely loving. While being built on a 28nm  process, the Snapdragon 650 SoC packed in 4x Cortex-A53 cores for its efficiency needs, and 2x Cortex-A72 cores for performance loads. This combination resulted in a phone package that gave absolutely stunning battery life, and an equally admirable (for its price) real world performance across games and heavy apps.

Why Xiaomi Went With Snapdragon 625 Over 650 In The New Redmi Note 4 ?Why Xiaomi Went With Snapdragon 625 Over 650 In The New Redmi Note 4 ?

The Redmi Note 4, on the other hand, seemingly concentrates on improving the battery life from its predecessor. The Redmi Note 4 packs in a 14nm-based Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC with FinFET technology, employing 8x Cortex-A53 clocked at 2GHz for all of its efficiency as well as performance needs. The move to a 14nm based SoC with solely Cortex-A53 cores will theoretically improve upon battery life in a noticeable manner. However, one needs to wonder how well the device will perform under strenuous tasks such as gaming. You know performance of the device could be nothing to boast about when Hugo Barra does not mention it on stage at all, choosing to focus instead on “battery performance”. The Adreno 506 complements the SoC in the GPU department, as compared to the Adreno 510 on the Redmi Note 3.

Why Xiaomi Went With Snapdragon 625 Over 650 In The New Redmi Note 4 ?

The Performance of Redmi Note 4 compared with Redmi Note 3 will not make a huge difference. You will only notice a small degrade in performance when compared side by side and flyed a Rocket with it or rendered a all day video. Combined with Great battery life, Great camera and Premium in-hand feel the Redmi Note 4 is a great upgrade to Redmi Note 3.

OverClocking And Cooling Down Your Phone

Hello Folks
Our Phones are getting powerful day by day with powerful processors but these processors are set to average frequency to improve performance, increased battery life and avoid thermal throttling. But sometimes we need power like playing some intensive titles, video editing or running a virtual machine on phone. At this moment  we need more power and we don’t worry about battery life. We can OVERCLOCK our phone CPU for maximum performance and run this things efficiently. But this causes thermal throttling and damage our device too. So to avoid such damage we will cool down it and prevent throttling.

CAUTION –

THIS INVOLVES RISK AND WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO YOUR DEVICE 🙂
DO AT YOUR OWN RISK…….

Prerequisite –

1)An Android Phone
2)Root Access
3)SetCPU INSTALLED (Available on Play store)
4)A cooling device  (Refrigerator, AC, Ice bags etc)
5)Rom Backup (In case anything gets wrong take backup from any recovery you like TWRP, Cwm etc)

Notice –  You need Root access on your device in order to tinkering CPU parameters. You can find many threads on XDA explaining procedure for Rooting and installation of Recovery in order to take backup for a specific device.

Firstly Root your device and take backup through custom Recovery and then follow these steps –

1) Download and Install SetCPU from Playstore.

Screenshot_2016-06-18-12-45-33-291_com.android.vending.png

This app is Paid so you need to purchase it or get torrent 🙂

2)Launch App and give proper root permission and then slide the max frequency to maximum and min frequency to a little bit less than max frequency.

Screenshot_2016-06-18-12-53-19-589_com.mhuang.overclocking.png

You can run a benchmark to ensure performance improvement and to avoid thermal throttle. If you feel that your phone is lagging or the app crashes then reduce the max and min frequency a little bit. You max out both max and min freq but that can lead to bricking your device or just a softback so ensure a backup and have a try 🙂

3)Run Your application and Cool your phone
After Overclocking and ensuring optimum performance you can run your application of choice and to avoid throttling and restart you need to cool  down your phone. Obviously with running some heavy app like games, video editor or virtual OS your device will heat and after specific time it will restart to ensure saving you CPU from damage  (Safe limit). The ONBOARD sensor tells your device to restart. To avoid this you need to constantly keep cooling your device.

images(3).jpg

You can use anything from refrigerator, AC, water cooler etc. This will keep thermals under proper value and will give optimal performance without overheating or restarting your device 🙂

YOU ARE DONE 🙂

ENJOY YOUR BEST PERFORMING PHONE NOW

RESULTS –

Testbench – Redmi 2 prime
SetCPU parameters –  Max 1209 Mhz
Min 1094 Mhz
Governor Performance
Test Application –  VideoShow PRO (Video Editor)
Cooling method – Refrigerator cooled
Performance –
Before Overclocking it took 20 mins to render a 5 mins of video
After Overclocking it took 10 mins to render same 5 mins of video

CONCLUSION –

Overclocking doubled my phone performance by 50 %

SO Folks share your opinions and experience about Overclocking here in replies. I would happy to know that.
