Another Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Explodes

Xiaomi has launched an investigation after a Redmi Note 4 smartphone exploded in the pocket of a user in Ravulapalem in Andhra Pradesh’s East Godavari district. The owner of the smartphone, Bhavana Suryakiran reportedly suffered serious injuries due to the explosion. The smartphone company said it has contacted Suryakiran and is investigating the matter.

“We take such matters seriously as customer safety is of utmost importance for Xiaomi. All of our devices go through stringent quality tests,” a Xiaomi spokesperson said in a statement, adding that they have contacted the customer and are in the process of procuring the damaged product to investigate the matter.

Sakshi.com, a Telugu news website, reported that the explosion took place when Suryakiran was riding a bike. A fire that broke out after the explosion could not be doused despite pouring water on his pants.

Suryakiran reportedly bought the smartphone from Flipkart 20 days ago. He added that he will move the court against Xiaomi for selling a ‘defective’ unit and seeking compensation for injuries sustained.

The incident comes weeks after a video showing an alleged Redmi Note 4 exploding, went viral. The video, however, later turned out to be a fake.

The company said after investigation, it found that a Redmi Note 4 belonging to Bangalore-based Arjun had exploded and the damage was caused due to a faulty third-party charger used by the customer.

“In addition, there were signs of physical damage on the phone as well. We advise our customers to only use Xiaomi authorised chargers and accessories,” the company had said.

Mobile phones exploding or catching fire is certainly not new. YouTube has a number of such videos. Just last year, Samsung faced a major crisis when it had to recall millions ofGalaxy Note 7 units after multiple reports of the smartphone catching fire.

Several airlines and airport authorities banned the use of the phone while travelling. According to Samsung’s probe, the Note 7 fires and explosions were caused due to faulty batteries.

MS Paint Will No Longer Be A Part Of Windows

Microsoft’s next Windows 10 update, called the Autumn (or Fall in the US) Creators Update, will bring a variety of new features. But one long-standing stalwart of the Windows experience has been put on the chopping block: Microsoft Paint.

First released with the very first version of Windows 1.0 in 1985, Paint in its various guises would be one of the first graphics editors used by many and became a core part of Windows. Starting life as a 1-bit monochrome licensed version of ZSoft’s PC Paintbrush, it wasn’t until Windows 98 that Paint could save in JPEG.

With the Windows 10 Creators Update, released in April, Microsoft introduced the new Paint 3D, which is installed alongside traditional Paint and features 3D image making tools as well as some basic 2D image editing. But it is not an update to original Paint and doesn’t behave like it.

Now Microsoft has announced that, alongside Outlook Express, Reader app and Reading list, Microsoft Paint has been signalled for death having been added to the “features that are removed or deprecated in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update” list.

Falling under the deprecated column for apps that are “not in active development and might be removed in future releases” Microsoft Paint’s ticket has been called and now it’s only a matter of time before it is removed like your favourite piece of old furniture from your childhood home.

Paint was never one of the most capable apps, and was limited to the bitmap (BMP) and PCX formats until 1998, but if you wanted to scribble something out using your mouse or make a quick cut and paste job, Paint was always there, even on work computers.

The most recent version of Paint for Windows 7 and later was much improved, but still considered feature poor compared to other free alternatives such as the third-party Paint.NET.

When Microsoft Paint will officially be removed from Windows has yet to be confirmed, while a precise date for the release of the Windows 10 Autumn Creators Update is equally up in the air. Whether, like Clippy, Windows users will celebrate or decry Paint’s removal, it will be a moment in the history of Windows as one of its longest-standing apps is put out to pasture.

Razer To Make Gaming Phones

Razer is interested in building a smartphone for gamers, according to a report from Bloomberg. The company is planning an IPO in Hong Kong later this year that could value its business at $5 billion. It will reportedly use some of the funds to build its smartphone.

The news isn’t that surprising, given that Razer acquired the smartphone company Nextbit earlier this year. Razer said Nextbit would operate as an independent company at the time of the acquisition, but hasn’t said much publicly about it since.

There are a lot of questions left to be answered, including whether the gaming-centric smartphone will come out under the Nextbit or Razer brand, and whether the company can even sell enough of them to make it worthwhile. Razer isn’t planning to IPO until around October, so we likely won’t see this device until 2018 at the earliest.

Sony Reveal PS5 Release Date

The PS5 is definitely coming to living rooms around the world, Sony confirmed as they revealed a successor to the PS4 will be released.PlayStation exec Shawn Layden confirmed that Sony will release a PS5 during an interview with a German website.

It had been rumoured that Sony might move away from the typical console release model and instead have regular hardware updates like smartphones.

The mid-generation update of the PS4 with the PS4 Pro was seen by some as a sign of things to come.

However, Layden has come out to dispel those rumours – telling tech website Golem that a PS5 “is coming”.

However, he said it will “probably be some time” before a PlayStation 5 is released.

The comments from Layden come soon after one industry expert claimed Sony were getting ready to release a PS5 as early as 2018.

Damian Thong had told The Wall Street Journal that Sony’s next numbered addition to the PlayStation line-up could release in the second half of 2018.

It may seem far-fetched for Sony to announced a PS5 while the PS4 is still doing so well for sales.

The PS4 has also only been out for just coming up to four years, and the PS3 was seven years old when it was replaced by the PlayStation 4.However, there are is one important thing to bear in mind.

Thong has a track record of his PlayStation predictions coming true.

He correctly predicted that Sony would launch a PS4 Slim and a PS4 Pro (which he called PS4 4K) a few MONTHS before the consoles were announced.

If Sony were planning to release a PS5 in 2018, you would expect them to announce the console during the remainder of 2017.

There are a number of big events coming up in the gaming calendar where Sony could announce the PS5.

These events are the Tokyo Game Show in September and December’s PlayStation experience.

Sega To Release All Their Games For Free On Android and iOs

Good news to all SEGA fans and retro gamers. Every SEGA game ever made is coming to iOS and Android, and it’s free-to-play. SEGA has just announced SEGA Forever, which will offer games released for every console era—Master System, Genesis/Mega Drive, Dreamcast and more—via smartphone or tablet.

SEGA Forever will launch this week on iOS and Android for free. Some of the titles that are expected to be released are Mega Drive games Altered Beast,Comix Zone, Kid Chameleon, Phantasy Star II, and Sonic The Hedgehog. According toMetro UK, these games will be playable offline and has modern features such as cloud saves, online leaderboards, and Bluetooth controller support.

SEGA plans to release a new game every two weeks, until eventually incorporating titles from every SEGA console from the SG-1000 through to the Dreamcast. Behind the SEGA Forever concept is Chief Marketing Officer Mike Evans who shares that he also has plans of including previous unreleased games in the West such as Dreamcast game Segagaga, andGirl’s Garden, the first game from Yuji Naka.

“We’ve never before done something that really crosses all of the different gaming eras, and isn’t prejudice against someone because they grew up in the ’80s versus the ’90s. And so what we’re trying to do is look at how we can take content that spans two decades and make it all available in the same place,” Evans tellsMetro UK.

The only setback is that the SEGA games were designed to work on a proper controller and not on a touchscreen. To this, Evans says that they are trying to get the experience as good as possible, but for those who don’t want to play on a touchscreen, players can buy a cheap Bluetooth controller, which can even be set up on the TV.

Unfortunately, there will be no added difficulty levels or aids, other than lowering the difficulty within the game itself. This is because the SEGA team prefers to keep the games faithful to the original.

“We haven’t gone in and changed the original ROM itself, we’ve kept them as faithful emulations. Which was important in making this project work commercially,” Evans explains.

Since the games are free, the way that SEGA will profit is through short adverts that would play before the start of a game. According to Metro UK, there are plans in the future for a subscription service, where there would be no need to wait for the ads to play out. For now, there is an option to pay £1.99 for each game to get rid of the ads.

Meanwhile, Eurogamer was able to try some of the games on both Android and iPhone. According to the popular gaming blog site, although the ads didn’t seem at all intrusive, the appeal for use of a physical controller is definitely there. SEGA is also reported to be working on native apps for the Apple TV and Android TV.

Senheiser Develop $55,000 Headphones

Senheiser is one of the most popular audio brands and the company grabbed many headlines around the world when it came up with new version of its Orpheus range of premium headphones two years ago (mostly because of the $55,000 price tag). On Thursday, the company launched the successor to Orpheus, new Sennheiser HE 1, headphones in India. If you want to put your hand to your heart for the price, now is the time to do so, as the company has priced the headphones at Rs. 45 lakhs for the country and will be made available from May 27.

If you are wondering why these headphones cost as much as a house does, it could potentially be because the company says that just the development of these headphones took around a decade. As per company’s claims, the new HE 1 premium headphones offer “a frequency response that extends beyond the range of human hearing and the lowest total harmonic distortion that has ever been measured in an audio reproduction system.”

In order to achieve improved sound, the new Sennheiser HE 1 headphones use a tube amplifier. The amplifier comes with eight vacuum tubes that are used to process the incoming signal. The company claims that the use of tube amplifiers is because of their superior impulse processing. However, as the tubes are sensitive to air-borne-noise, the company says that it crafted amplifier housing from granular, inhomogeneous Carrara marble and says that it is freely suspended with the amplifier.

“The decoupling of the tubes in combination with the damping properties of the marble has the effect of reducing structure-borne noise to an absolute minimum. The tubes themselves also have a high-quality patent-pending enclosure consisting of quartz-glass bulbs that perfectly shield them from their surroundings,” the company said in its release. The tube amplifier is coupled with a ultra-high impulse amplifier stage integrated into the earcups.

“The headphones use a completely new amplifier concept that combines the superior impulse processing of a tube amplifier with the low distortion of a transistor amplifier to perfection,” said CEO Andreas Sennheiser. The company is also touting gold-vaporised ceramic electrodes and platinum-vaporised diaphragms for better acoustic output. Another highlight is a frequency response from 8Hz to 100KHz.

Commenting on the launch, Kapil Gulati, Director Consumer Segment said “We are very thrilled to have launched the world’s finest headphones, now in India. India has emerged as one of the biggest and fastest growing markets in the audiophile industry and with the launch of these headphones we have managed to set a new benchmark yet again. We at Sennheiser always thrive for excellence and are reshaping the future of high-end audio world in pursuit of perfect sound.”

Make Your Own Hologram Pyramid

If you’ve seen videos on Facebook and other social media sites of a hologram pyramid and wondered how it’s done then you’re at the right place. Here’s how you make your own hologram pyramid.

Required Materials

  1. 0.5mm thick transparent acrylic/plastic sheet. (You can use plastic sheets used in packaging)
  2. Access to printer (if possible)
  3. Scissors
  4. Cutting Knives
  5. Clear cellotape
  6. Ruler
  7. Pen
  8. Smartphone

Follow These Steps for Your Own DIY Hologram Pyramid

1. Print out the template shown below on a sheet of A4 size paper.diy hologram

NOTE: If you do not have access to a printer, you can also make a template on your own. Draw a basic “Trapezoid” on a piece of paper using these dimensions. Parallel sides= 1cm, 6cm & other two sides= 4.5cm each. You can always double or triple the dimensions in proportion to use on a larger display.

2. Trace out the shape on the plastic sheet using a ruler and pen. For the trapezoid template, trace out four similar outlines on the plastic sheet. Now carefully cut out the outlines with a cutting blade and ruler. Try to make your cuts as precise as possible for a perfect pyramid.

3. If you used the printout template:Score the red edges very lightly using a cutting blade. This will allow you to fold the edges better and form a pyramid shape. Stick the open edges of the sheet together using clear cellotape.

If you used the trapezoid template: Join the four edges to form a pyramid shape. Stick them together.

Either way, in the end you will have a pyramid like the one shown below.

4. That’s it! You have made yourself a hologram pyramid! All you have to do now is play a hologram video in your phone. Place the hologram pyramid in the middle of your screen like shown in the image below and enjoy the show. Don’t forget to switch off the lights in the room before you start playing the video.

Sony Could Launch Next Gen Console In 2018

According to Macquarie Capital Securities analyst Damian Thong Sony could release their next gen console in the second half of 2018.

It has been observed that Damian Thong has been spot on with his previous predictions of Sony’s console releases. He predicted the release of the Sony Playstation 4 Pro and Slim.

Here’s what he said

Even without any insider knowledge, I can say with certainty that Sony is working on a new console, because these things take years to develop. But will we see it on shelves in 2018? I seriously doubt it. While announcing a new console could potentially be a way for Sony to disrupt the momentum Microsoft is building with Project Scorpio, the PlayStation 4 Pro is barely six months old right now and its official announcement isn’t even a year old. While consoles are moving toward a mobile phone-like model for updating and compatibility, fans would balk at a new console so soon.
